Phu Doan Plaza, located at the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee (also known as City Hall), is a vibrant and modern interpretation of Hue’s identity as an ancient capital. Today, the plaza serves as an inclusive outdoor hub of Hue’s cultural and social life, but this was not always the case.
Before its renovation, the plaza was an uninviting and inaccessible space, characterized by uneven terraces, hidden passageways, and neglected trees. The transformation elevated the park—both literally and symbolically—to match its prominent location at the foot of Hue City Hall.
The plaza now offers universal accessibility by leveling the entire site to meet the street, encouraging activity throughout the day. It features a spacious lawn, an interactive fountain, a café, and ample seating amid green groves of native plants such as Bombax ceiba (cây gạo), Borassus flabellifer (cây thốt nốt), Laurus nobilis (cây nguyệt quế), Cinnamomum camphora (cây long não). Built atop Hue City Center’s multi-modal transit hub, it acts as a gateway connecting all neighborhoods.
Covering 8,190 square meters, the plaza provides a welcoming, all-season destination for relaxation and public recreation.

The Zen garden embodies the essence of nature, situated within a coniferous forest, where it bathes in the morning sunlight and is immersed in the cool breeze of the nearby beach. Visitors move freely within its open space, unbound by fixed positions or traditional frames of reference.
Movement transcends notions of interior and exterior, high and low. Heaven and earth, plants, flowers, and humans merge into one harmonious whole, where every step resonates with the breath of the pure land.

Characteristics
This is the former Provincial Party Committee Headquarter during the anti-American war, aimed at educating younger generations about revolutionary traditions and honoring the ecological and aesthetic values of U Minh Thuong National Forest in Kien Giang Province.
Design Principles
- Respect the existing landscape characteristics while creating diverse spatial arrangements to accommodate the various functions of the overall project.
- Inherit the cultural heritage values of Southern Vietnam through the development of a resort area that harmonizes local cultural elements with the natural landscape.
- Ensure vibrancy throughout the overall spatial design, maintaining solemnity in the central area while providing privacy and seclusion for functional areas such as eco-experience resorts, recreational areas, and spaces for outdoor activities reflecting Southern Vietnamese lifestyles.
- Protect the environmental landscape by preserving the existing ecological scenery, employing on-site earthworks, and utilizing local materials.

Suối vẫn reo theo nhịp của thời cuộc để âm thầm vá víu những thương tổn hiện sinh.
Dòng nước nương nhờ địa thế len lỏi tự do toả vết tràn ngập, biến cả khung trời rộng lớn nằm gọn trong chiếc bát ngửa mặt nhìn mây. Tiếng lách tách của cá đớp nước, tiếng va đập vào nhánh củi khô, tiếng gió reo lăn tăn phủ bạc lấp lánh soi bóng cả một khoảng rừng non, tiếng vỗ không thành tiếng của loài cò trắng trên mặt nước, thong thả tìm cơ hội trong cuộc mưu sinh đầy nghiệt ngã. Trong cái nắng nhẹ một buổi chớm đông, nhịp chảy âm thầm vọng ra từ thân cầu dẫn nước (aquaduct) tạo nên một hoà âm đầy tĩnh lặng.

Cổ rêu phủ kín một đền đài, như một tấm thảm thời gian lặng lẽ trải dài trên bức tường cổ kính của Cố đô Huế. Những lớp rêu mỏng manh, nhưng kiên cường, bám chặt trên bề mặt xù xì của chất liệu: tựa như những ký ức xa xưa vẫn còn lưu lại, không thể phai nhòa theo năm tháng.
Trong ánh sáng mờ ảo của buổi chiều tà, màu xanh của cổ rêu trở nên lung linh hơn, như những viên ngọc bích nhỏ bé, lấp lánh giữa không gian yên tĩnh. Những đường vân của rêu, như những nét vẽ tinh tế của một họa sĩ tài hoa: tạo nên một bức tranh thiên nhiên sống động, đầy cảm hứng.
Mỗi không gian cổ rêu là một câu chuyện, một mảnh ghép của quá khứ, gợi nhớ về những ngày tháng vàng son của triều đại xưa. Đôi khi, một cơn gió nhẹ thổi qua, làm rêu lay động, như những dòng chữ cổ xưa đang thì thầm kể lại những bí mật của thời gian.
Cổ rêu tại Cố đô Huế không chỉ là một phần của cảnh quan, mà còn là biểu tượng của sự trường tồn, của vẻ đẹp giản dị nhưng sâu lắng, khiến lòng người không khỏi bồi hồi, xao xuyến mỗi khi bước ngang qua nó.

Những con sóng nối tiếp nhau trườn trên bãi cát vẽ nên những đường cong tự do phơi mình dưới ánh mặt trời.
Sóng muôn hình vạn tướng: thấp cao, nghiêng ngã, cong tròn, méo lệch, yếu mạnh hợp quần tạo nên sắc khí của đại dương.
Cái thể tính bất phân ly tạo nên tính cách riêng biệt của sóng chính là sự tràn đầy. Năng lượng tích tụ vượt lên trăn trở bộn bề, trải qua một cuộc trường chinh đầy gian khó, nay đã gặp bờ để thổ lộ niềm kiêu hãnh.
Ấy vậy mà hình trạng của sóng chợt tan biến, ẩn khuất trong lớp lớp tạo tác liên tục của sự va đập không ngừng nghỉ.
Trong chiều quay biến thiên của sự tồn tại, mọi hình hài đều trở nên mong manh trước sự biến đổi của chính nó.
