Phu Doan Plaza, located at the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee (also known as City Hall), is a vibrant and modern interpretation of Hue’s identity as an ancient capital. Today, the plaza serves as an inclusive outdoor hub of Hue’s cultural and social life, but this was not always the case.
Before its renovation, the plaza was an uninviting and inaccessible space, characterized by uneven terraces, hidden passageways, and neglected trees. The transformation elevated the park—both literally and symbolically—to match its prominent location at the foot of Hue City Hall.
The plaza now offers universal accessibility by leveling the entire site to meet the street, encouraging activity throughout the day. It features a spacious lawn, an interactive fountain, a café, and ample seating amid green groves of native plants such as Bombax ceiba (cây gạo), Borassus flabellifer (cây thốt nốt), Laurus nobilis (cây nguyệt quế), Cinnamomum camphora (cây long não). Built atop Hue City Center’s multi-modal transit hub, it acts as a gateway connecting all neighborhoods.
Covering 8,190 square meters, the plaza provides a welcoming, all-season destination for relaxation and public recreation.

Nestled quietly under the canopy of the coconut forest swaying in the gentle breeze, the simple house comes into existence thanks to the reflections of the dawn sunlight. The house has a simple modern look, inheriting the shape of a traditional house with 3 compartments and 2 wings, with a large veranda surrounding it. The veranda is a transitional space and acts as a climate regulator for the whole house. Not only that, but it is also a place where countless activities connect people with the surrounding open space. The rooms all open to the garden and the doorways pull the garden into its deepest recesses. The nuanced transitions of time and space also take place in the cut of this patio.

The Zen garden embodies the essence of nature, situated within a coniferous forest, where it bathes in the morning sunlight and is immersed in the cool breeze of the nearby beach. Visitors move freely within its open space, unbound by fixed positions or traditional frames of reference.
Movement transcends notions of interior and exterior, high and low. Heaven and earth, plants, flowers, and humans merge into one harmonious whole, where every step resonates with the breath of the pure land.

Đối với đồng bào thành phố đã nằm xuống trong cuộc chiến chống đại dịch cần được tri ân, ghi nhớ một cách trân trọng tại công trình trên bằng cách khắc tên ở công trình. Rất nhiều công trình tưởng niệm trên thế giới đều có khắc tên các nạn nhân như công trình kỷ niệm sự kiện 11-9 ở Mỹ hay trận động đất ở Đường Sơn, Trung Quốc…
Đối với 23.000 đồng bào mất đi cần được nhắc nhớ một cách trang trọng để mọi người còn biết tưởng nhớ đến ai, tri ân ai. Những người đã nằm xuống cho cuộc sống hôm nay thì bất kể họ là ai, không phân biệt, phải được những người hôm nay, thế hệ sau đến công trình tham quan tự lắng đọng, biết ơn mới thể hiện sự nhân văn.

Suối vẫn reo theo nhịp của thời cuộc để âm thầm vá víu những thương tổn hiện sinh.
Dòng nước nương nhờ địa thế len lỏi tự do toả vết tràn ngập, biến cả khung trời rộng lớn nằm gọn trong chiếc bát ngửa mặt nhìn mây. Tiếng lách tách của cá đớp nước, tiếng va đập vào nhánh củi khô, tiếng gió reo lăn tăn phủ bạc lấp lánh soi bóng cả một khoảng rừng non, tiếng vỗ không thành tiếng của loài cò trắng trên mặt nước, thong thả tìm cơ hội trong cuộc mưu sinh đầy nghiệt ngã. Trong cái nắng nhẹ một buổi chớm đông, nhịp chảy âm thầm vọng ra từ thân cầu dẫn nước (aquaduct) tạo nên một hoà âm đầy tĩnh lặng.

Những khối đá ủ mình trong đất được ôm ấp và tâm tình với bóng đêm và làm bạn với những quân đoàn mối và côn trùng.
Những gốc dương xỉ cổ đại sần sùi, gân guốc chạm mặt ngã nghiêng hứng giọt nắng của trời để ngập ngụa trong màu xanh mơn mởn của tàng lá.
Cả ba dạng hình thái của sự sống cùng hội tụ để tạo nên ý niệm cảnh quan bản địa nơi vùng đất đầy gió và mây này.
